AEE 2008: Day 1 – The PreGame

I arrived in Vegas after a sliver of sleep yesterday morning, with my heavy bags in tow. As soon as I got to the airport, I had this weird realization about how differently I travel these days. I used to do as much research as possible, plan my time out well, and plan for things that might go wrong. So not the case anymore, partly because I’m more scatter-brained, partly because I’m braver jumping into miscellaneous situations – andalso because everything always goes wrong, so it doesn’t matter. I dunno. Anyway, the point is, I got here early-ish and had no plan and nowhere to go. So I set off in search of a place to store my luggage and use wifi. I spent a few hours in front of my laptop, drinking juice. So far, my tales of Vegas are really exciting, right?

After a frustrating excursion to the Venetian during which I was unable to claim my pretty new Live Girl Review postcards from the package center, I treated myself to some oysters and then made my way to a small soiree in Regina Lynn’s room at the Imperial Palace. It was nice and low key, with the best and brightest of the adult industry. Visionaries and people who are actively experimenting with new tactics and products are really the best. Gives me hope for this crazy world I call my career.

Also, Regina scored a love suite, which means that there is a large bathtub in the bedroom, with a mirror over it. The bed also has a mirror over it, and so everyone piled on top of the bed and took pics in the mirror. Behold:

I’m gearing up for the first official day of the convention, when the show is open to only press and industry folks. The calm before the storm. More to come!
